Custom Kitchen Millwork for Queens Apartments (Astoria to Forest Hills)
Custom kitchen cabinets for Queens apartments in Astoria, LIC, Forest Hills, Jackson Heights, and Sunnyside. Green Cabinets NY installs by appointment. Call (718) 804-5488.
A Queens kitchen is almost never the box a warehouse SKU was cut for. An Astoria walk-up galley is 9 feet long and 6 feet wide, with a radiator eating a corner. A Forest Hills co-op has 8-foot-4 ceilings, so a 48-inch upper will not fit. An LIC tower has a bulkhead, a sprinkler, and a dock that wants a COI before the cart rolls in. Stock cabinets paper over that with filler. Custom millwork is built to the opening.
Green Cabinets NY designs and installs custom kitchen millwork by appointment in Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. We are a home-based shop in Bushwick, not a walk-in showroom. There is nothing to drop by at 10 Montieth. We bring door and finish samples to your apartment, measure the real walls, and install on a booked day. For pricing bands and the full neighborhood list, use custom kitchen cabinets in Queens. This post is the apartment version: five neighborhoods, then a quote without a shop visit.
Five Queens apartments, five millwork jobs
Astoria. Brick walk-ups off Steinway, Ditmars, and Broadway. Narrow galleys, plaster that is not square, often no freight elevator. A stock 36-inch base that leaves a 3-inch filler looks like a mistake in a 9-foot run. We spec the boxes to the wall, then scribe.
Long Island City. Glass towers in Hunters Point and Court Square. Slab doors and integrated pulls match the architecture. The millwork still has to clear bulkheads and sprinklers, and the building still wants a COI, elevator pads, and a dock reservation. We plan that before a truck leaves Bushwick.
Forest Hills. Garden co-ops around Austin Street and 108th. Short ceilings (often 8’–8’6”). Forty-two-inch wall cabinets usually fit; forty-eights usually do not. Boards want an alteration agreement even when you are not moving gas. Painted shaker holds up here.
Jackson Heights. Historic-district garden co-ops, radiators, off-square rooms, shared stacks that pin the sink. Painted shaker, tight fillers, on-site scribe — plus a board that wants insurance names and a work window.
Sunnyside. Row houses and Sunnyside Gardens. Galley kitchens, brick party walls, stair carries instead of a dock. Custom widths and a one-day install for a typical under-20-linear-foot kitchen are the usual brief.
We also work Brooklyn and Manhattan. Same millwork, different freight.
What we actually build
Plywood boxes, dadoed joinery, full-extension drawers, doors cut to the opening. Not a big-box kitchen in a truck.
Door styles we spec a lot in Queens apartments:
- Classic shaker for Forest Hills and Jackson Heights co-ops
- Slim shaker when the galley is small and the frame should recede
- Slab for LIC condos
- Glass uppers when an Astoria or Sunnyside galley needs borrowed light
Finishes people live with: painted whites, sage, navy, putty, and wood tones in walnut or white oak. Hardware in unlacquered brass, matte black, or brushed nickel. Panel brands we order: Tafisa, Egger, Shinnoki, Wilsonart, AGT. Grain and hardness notes are in the wood species guide.
If the same renovation includes a bathroom, spec the vanity in the designer — live size and price, to the inch — then fold kitchen and vanity into one millwork package. One elevator reservation. One COI. The 3D view is a design preview, not a photograph of a finished job.
How a Queens apartment quote works
Email orders@greencabinetsny.com or call (718) 804-5488. Name, email, phone, borough. Photos plus rough widths (wall to wall, and the run to the window or fridge) are enough to start. Say co-op, condo, or walk-up.
Cabinetry-only planning ranges in 2026: about $225 per linear foot for bases, $350 per linear foot for a full kitchen. Finish, drawers, and hardware move it. Countertops, appliances, tile, and plumbing are separate. Delivery inside our NYC radius is included.
Timeline is usually 4–6 weeks from a signed design to install day, then a day or two on site. Co-op paperwork and freight reservations add calendar time, not extra days of banging in the unit. We put a schedule on the quote.
We have been doing this since 2009 — 15+ years of NYC kitchens. For how jobs look after install, browse case studies. Renders are planning tools. Finished work is photographed after install.
FAQ
Do I need to visit a shop?
No. There is not a public showroom. Photos, measurements, then a site visit at your Queens apartment.
Do you install in Astoria, LIC, Forest Hills, Jackson Heights, and Sunnyside?
Yes. Regular routes from Bushwick — Kosciuszko or Pulaski for western Queens, LIE for Forest Hills.
Will my co-op board allow this?
Most Queens co-ops want an alteration agreement and a COI even for a cabinet swap. We issue insurance certificates once the job is booked and the building names are confirmed.
How long does a Queens apartment kitchen take?
Plan 4–6 weeks of production, then 1–2 days on site. Buildings add board and elevator time.
Are design renders finished jobs?
No. Renders are design previews. Finished work is photographed after install.
